SSC Accounting Manager

Core Description:  

To support the goals of the Shared Services Center's finance group and its customers in the areas of Accounting and Finance. This position requires a broad understanding of general accounting areas including Fixed Assets, Intercompany, Inventory, Payroll, Cash, Prepaids, and other significant balance sheet items.  Activities include month end close, review of high risk journal entries, account reconciliations, GL reporting and analysis, monthly, quarterly, and yearly Corporate reporting, SOX controls, and other general accounting tasks. This position is a process oriented opportunity, but the successful individual must have a strong propensity to delve into issues and lead process improvements and develop personnel.

 

Key Responsibilities: 

Provide supervision and development of Accounting Supervisors and their staff

  • Support Supervisors in their specific areas of focus and ensure development of subject matter competency
  • Ensure best practices are established in areas of focus to ensure efficiency and effectiveness
  • Assist Supervisors in updating and/or developing process documentation for areas of focus

 

 Manage month end close process

  • Ensure all journal entries and account reconciliations are reviewed and approved within internal control guidelines
  • Manage general ledger upload and reporting into HFM consolidation tool 

 

Manage monthly, quarterly, and year end Corporate reporting requirements

  • Manage Corporate quarterly reporting process, including reporting packages and analytics
  • Assist with ad hoc Corporate inquiries 

 

Support internal and external auditors in SOX controls and financial statement testing

  • Ensure adherence to key controls over journal entries, account reconciliations, and checklists
  • Manage process over yearly impairment review
  • Continuous assessment of the control environment
  • Work with management team and auditors to implement new controls as needed
     

Provide special project support as assigned 

  • Manage yearly property tax reporting requirements
  • Manage yearly process to support Corporate Tax group for income tax provision and return items

 

Oversee the progress of continuous improvement processes 

 

Application Pre-Requisites: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting     
  • 5-10 years of experience, including Public Accounting experience. 
  • 3-5 years supervisory experience
  • Firm understanding of basic accounting, financial statements, and US GAAP
  • Full understanding of the month end close process and how it relates to other closing activities
  • CPA or CPA Candidate preferred
  • Experience with ERP Systems preferred; preferably SAP
  • Hyperion reporting experience preferred
  • Experience with manufacturing environments preferred.
