PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Global Manager, Product Development is highly attuned to the competitive environment and pop culture, and is capable of synthesizing that knowledge with an understanding of the brand to create impactful and relevant recommendations for shades, limited editions etc. He/she has a sharp eye for creative, is detail oriented, has high quality standards and is capable of managing complexity across numerous stakeholders to deliver results on time with excellence.
- Support Marketing in the brand strategy, defining gaps, renovations, upgrades, and new category initiatives
- Develop and manage the execution of new product launches on a day to day basis partnering with TPMs, all cross-functional teams, and R&D, from formula approval,
to manufacturing and on-site approval, meeting all required milestones
- Work in all aspects of new product research and development, including, but no limited to, sku creation, package design, formula/shade development and competitive analysis
- Continually submit innovative ideas in terms of products, promotional strategy, and collateral ideas, drive to elevate brand performance to the next level including new, different, creative approaches
- Scout the Beauty marketplace and alternative industries, tracking trends in all categories (fashion, food, home, packaging)
- Lead trend work, continuously track and monitor new competitive products, formula innovations, ingredients, and shade palettes, online and in store, staying current on all industry trends, competitive products, and claims
- Test and evaluate new products, formulas, and competitive launches; lead and support shade gap analysis, keep product boards updated
- Interact and communicate effectively with all cross functional teams and TPMs serving as the main point of contact for projects
- Recommend and develop formula upgrades across key brands and analyze competitive brands utilizing sound quantitative data from Nielsen.
- Led development of trend / thematic boards with broader global marketing team
- Create agendas and capture minutes from meetings when necessary; active and contributing participating
- Manage the update of all product boards, both competitive and internal brands
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: (Academic, Professional, Relevant Job Knowledge)
- 4-year Undergraduate Degree in Marketing or Product Development with a concentration in Cosmetics
- 4-6 years of experience with cosmetic and skincare development and Marketing (beauty, prestige, specialty retail and/or e-retail preferred)
- Strong color eye
- Plugged in to cultural trends
- High degree of creativity and flexibility
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize
- Attention to detail and strong follow-up skills
- Strong computer skills (MS Office, photo shop)
- Team player
