ROLE SUMMARY

 

The Project Manager will both lead and participate in multi-disciplinary teams during the planning and execution of engineering and facilities projects. The role requires both relevant technical knowledge and project management skills to serve the business. 

The Project Manager will be part of a team responsible for the capital based projects on the site, supporting new installations as well as modifications and enhancements to current installations. They will be responsible for all aspects of the projects from technical specification, project schedule, execution, FAT, installation and SAT through to documentation, training, handover and budget control. They will execute the projects using project management tools and documents such as URS, GANTT charts and RACI.

The role of the project manager requires someone who has:

  • an understanding of the business issues being addressed and how they relate to the project activities

The role of the Project Manager can vary considerably according to the size and nature of each project.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

 

Project Management

  • assists in the development of the Project business cases
  • participates in defining the project scope, benefits, and objectives
  • has responsibility for agreeing the non-engineering project responsibilities with the Project Sponsor/ Project Business Lead
  • has responsibility for ensuring that all Stakeholders’ and Project Team members’ requirements are taken into account prior to submission and that they are covered within the Project Scope, Project Estimate and Schedule.
  • to manage the preparation of initial and ongoing estimates of the project costs, including materials, labour, design and supervision. Is responsible for preparing the engineering aspects of the project and ensuring that other Project Team members prepare their relevant elements required for capital funding requests.
  • ensures that the project realises the business benefits given in the project proposal
  • responsible for the day-to-day management and deliverable completion of the engineering aspects of the project, using agreed resources, by an agreed date to agreed safety standards and an agreed quality within an agreed budget
  • responsible for co-ordination, scheduling and reporting of activities related to stakeholder management, benefits management, business change management and project communications as agreed with the Project Business Lead and/or Sponsor.
  • responsible for the management of the Project Implementation Team, including the assembly and recruitment of the appropriate team members, through discussion with the Senior Project Manager and Project Sponsor/Project Business Lead
  • responsible for ensuring each Project Implementation Team member’s full involvement during the development of the project
  • responsible for generating good project team working, and managing conflict
  • monitors, controls and reports on project progress on a regular basis and when exceptional circumstances arise to the Senior Project Manager and Project Sponsor/Business Lead, as appropriate
  • has responsibility for initiating the purchase order for all purchases, procurement and payments on the project
  • has the responsibility for the definition of the contract strategy, and the selection of contractors and suppliers
  • in relation to the contractor the Project Manager must ensure that the execution of the project is in accordance with contract and any relevant technical specifications
  • responsible for the control and co-ordination of all contractors and suppliers
  • Organises and chairs summary project meetings and ensures all other necessary specialist meetings are held as required
  • to monitor and co-ordinate detailed specifications/designs for the fabrication/ purchase of all plant and equipment across engineering disciplines
  • to ensure that design complies with relevant Coty Design Guides and local engineering practices.
  • to liaise with the Equipment Manufacturer or Construction Representative (if applicable) to track and monitor this activity against the Programme
  • to monitor cost expenditure against estimates and report cost position to Senior Project Manager on a regular basis
  • to ensure that Commissioning, Qualification & Verification (CQV) success criteria is defined and to prepare a detailed programme for the implementation of the CQV plan
  • to be responsible for Commissioning and Qualification, monitor testing and commissioning work prior to Handover for pre-commissioning and agree any snag list with Cell Manager to which the project is to be handed over to.
  • to manage Project Documentation, from Initiation to Handover
  • meeting all milestones within the Project Programme to ensure that the project progresses in a timely manner

 

Asset Management

  • Through adherence to the Asset control procedures ensure that all capital equipment is managed to the guidelines, which includes but not limited to:-
  • Additions to the Asset Register
  • Asset relocation request/notification
  • Asset removal from production, Idle Assets
  • Asset disposal/sale

 

Technical Skills

  • Ideally served a Craft Apprenticeship or Engineering degree
  • 10 years experience in managing engineering projects
  • Project Management Qualification
  • Ideally has an understanding of reliability engineering and Autonomous Maintenance
  • Ideally experienced with packaging lines and bulk manufacturing systems
  • Ideally experience with facilities type projects such and water systems, site services, BMS, HVAC, compressors and boilers
  • Ideally AutoCad trained & practising to Intermediate level or above

 

Safety Responsibilities

  • ensures that Coty Safe Systems of work are upheld during the project installation and commissioning phases
  • ensure that all relevant Health, Safety and Environment statutory standards and regulations are complied with
  • ensures that HS&E Team are involved in the development/design of the project scope and design phases
  • Contractor management

 

Quality Responsibilities

  • ensure that all statutory Quality standards and regulations are complied with
  • ensures that all appropriate Coty technical standards are applied
  • responsible for co-ordinating design reviews
  • Ensuring equipment and facilities complies with GMP standards
