Supply Chain Senior Engineer

Distribution Center – Sanford, NC / Belcamp, MD

The Logistics Sr. Engineer is a key member of the Logistics Leadership Team. The incumbent will work with assigned Team(s) on assigned schedule(s) to achieve set business metrics for safety, cost, quality, and service relating to the receiving, picking, packing, and shipping of orders to customers. Their work plan will have scope across the Americas Physical Distribution Network. They will also be responsible for partnering with the Logistics Leadership Team to develop and execute tactical plans including workflow, system enhancements, and operational planning. Further, they will be expected to assist in developing the team and work process in a continually improving manner.

 

 

In this role you will be responsible for:

  • Provide guidance, technical support, coaching and training to assigned team/s
  • Plan, organize and control systemic activities of team/s and communicate clear expectations regarding department goals and provide improvement solutions where needed.
  • Validate system data for time studies, historical data analysis and process review to determine validity of proposed process change
  • Full understanding of business/performance metrics and impact across the site
  • Observe and Manage team performance and track productivity/accuracy data and provide guidance to Leadership Team in establishing new goals
  • Identify barriers to performance and assist Leadership Team in identifying/analyzing root cause and effect and develop action plans to resolve
  • Support all continuous improvement initiatives in Logistics as required
  • Leverage WMS system to develop best practices and efficiencies through data mining, report development and system coding.
  • Lead testing/identification of new applications/processes to identify system enhancement opportunities
  • Deliver execution of capital projects
  • Conduct daily interaction with team leaders and staff to provide feedback on performance, progress toward goals, safety topics, operational results and business updates and seek input from staff on methods to impact efficiency, accuracy and safety
  • Lead strategic training of team/s as needed to support internal process change as required
  • Develop/create replenishment/slotting strategies and maintain them for efficiency based on volume and velocity
  • Administer LMS system and score carding
  • Develop/create daily KPI reporting
  • Represent Logistics in IT strategic development

 

Knowledge:

  • Intermediate knowledge of business/financial plans
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and equipment troubleshooting
  • Background in Logistics and Lean implementation

 

Functional / Technical Skills:

  • Proven project management skills (planning, organizing, and resource allocation).
  • Basic financial and cost analysis skills.
  • Proven analytical, reasoning and problem-solving skills (A3, PDCA, 8D, 5Y, BDA).
  • Proven written and verbal communication skills including strong presentation skills.
  • Proven training and facilitation skills.
  • Advanced capability in Excel and Access.
  • Advanced capability in Word and Power Point
  • Advanced SQL capabilities.
  • Functional ability in the rest of the Office Suite (Visio, and Project).
  • Advanced ability in Toad, Crystal reports or equivalent.
  • Advanced WMS capabilities at a developer level required with strong bias to Red Prairie and SAP.

 

Abilities:

  • Ability to effectively train, coach and provide performance feedback
  • Ability to work as a team member with other supervisors and management
  • Ability to analyze moderately complex data
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information in both written and verbal form and respond to questions from groups of managers and employees while driving group consensus, leading change, and implementation of defined solution(s).
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to recognize potential issues from floor time and direct observation of process flow and work product results.
  • Ability to translate analysis into cohesive written or verbal form.
  • Advanced capability in basic statistics, algebraic equations, process measurement, and financial calculations at a level strong enough to fulfill responsibilities listed above.

 

Application Pre-Requisites:

Education:                

  • BA/BS from an accredited college or university in a Computer Science, Logistics Engineering or Industrial Engineering discipline (required)
  • Lean or Six Sigma training (required), Green Belt or higher certification (desired)           

Work Experience:    

  • Experience of 3 years or greater in a Logistics Engineering role in a fast paced/high volume Logistics/Operations setting.
