George Schaeffer & Suzi Weiss-Fischmann
George Schaeffer and Suzi Weiss-Fischmann helped to reinvent the nail category in 1981 with the inception of OPI in Los Angeles, California. Originally a dental supply business, they soon realized that their products were actually a perfect fit for the growing acrylic nail market. OPI began with its "rubber band special" and soon expanded to shades of nail lacquer, with their one-of-a-kind shade names that broke the mold of standard numbered tones and shot the business to national then international success. OPI was the first in the industry to limit their sales to beauty professionals, focusing on the importance of education, and it continues to innovate in all aspects of the professional nail category.
