Reporting to the VP, Legal – Commercial & Licensing the role of the Assistant General Counsel is to provide day-to-day support to the company on legal matters pertaining to the development, marketing and sales of its cosmetic, fragrance and skincare products.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Works closely as a business partner primarily with the US global marketing and commercial teams. This position requires working collaboratively with other lawyers in the different functions around the world, as well as cross-functionally (e.g., with R&D, Q&A, Regulatory Affairs, Corporate Affairs, Procurement and Finance) within Coty to provide legal advice on a variety of marketing, sales, regulatory and litigation matters.  

 

  • The primary role will be to serve as a strategic, solutions-oriented business partner to the marketing and sales teams in the US. 

 

  • Typical legal work will include drafting, reviewing and negotiating a wide range of contracts including but not limited to, distribution, retail, and travel retail agreements, talent, sponsorship, promotion and marketing, influencer, music, agency, e-commerce, and licensing agreements.

 

  • Additional responsibilities will include providing advice related to marketing claims and product regulations in the US, as well as overseeing various litigation matters.

 

  • Conduct trainings to internal employees on compliance with licensing agreements, unfair business practices, claims substantiation and Coty internal policies.

 

  • Provide high quality legal advice and counsel in a timely manner to a wide array of business and operational colleagues on matters including but not limited to sales and anti-trust / competition laws, regulatory, claims substantiation, product labeling, marketing and advertising, intellectual property, litigation, privacy and data protection.

 

  • Manage and work with outside counsel in a variety of matters including claims substantiation, risk assessment, regulatory update and litigations.

 

  • Perform other departmental duties as needed.
