2050 climate targets in line with global efforts to limit warming to 1.5°C
NEW YORK – April 22, 2026 -- Coty Inc. (NYSE: COTY) (Paris: COTY), one of the world’s largest beauty companies, today announced that the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) has validated the company’s net‑zero commitment for FY2050 under the Net‑Zero Standard. This approval confirms that Coty’s near‑ and long-term goals align with the latest climate science, supporting global efforts to limit warming to 1.5°C.
Markus Strobel, Coty Executive Chairman and Interim Chief Executive Officer, said: “This is a proud moment for Coty. It gives us science‑based goals and sharpens our Becoming Carbon Kind strategy. Recent upgrades from leading ESG raters, including S&P Global and MSCI, are another independent sign of our commitment — and of our progress.”
The SBTi is the global body that sets and validates corporate emissions reduction targets. In 2022, Coty’s near‑term (2030) climate goals were first approved by the SBTi. The following year, the company committed to validating long‑term targets. Today, Coty delivers this ambition, joining a rapidly growing cohort of global companies working to drive meaningful emissions reductions across industries.
Coty commits* to reducing absolute Scope 1, 2 and 3 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions 90% by FY2050 from a FY2019 base year. Coty also updated its near‑term goals, targeting an 82% reduction in absolute Scope 1 and 2 emissions (up from 50%) and reaffirming a 28% reduction in Scope 3 emissions by FY2030, while sourcing 100% renewable electricity by FY2030.
In 2026, Coty has also received recognition for sustainability progress, including notable upgrades from ESG raters S&P Global (seven‑point increase) and MSCI (A to AA), while maintaining a Low Risk rating from Sustainalytics.
